How to Share More of Yourself to Grow with Heather Stewart
Today’s Lessons in Entrepreneurship brings us Heather Stewart of Prosperity Flow Coaching. She works as a business coach with health and fitness professionals.
Heather says, “I began taking yoga as stress relief from my first career was as a CPA – after 15 years of corporate finance I decided to leave my career to pursue a life in the health and fitness industry (crazy… I know!)
“I surprise myself sometimes when I realize that I have now been a yoga teacher for the past 17 years, a personal trainer for 16 years and a registered massage therapist for the past 12+ years! Time sure flies!”

What is one trait of a successful entrepreneur?
One trait? Single minded focus on their goal… even when it isn’t seeming to go well.
What is your favorite free or inexpensive resource that has made the biggest impact on your business and why?
I’ve just started using Planoly to manage and schedule my IG posts. I’m still learning all the things it can do but it seems pretty awesome! And you do it on a desktop so not trying to do everything on your phone… whew!
What is your morning routine?
- Get up at a consistent time every morning without an alarm clock (if you can manage this it is the best!)
- Meditate every morning before getting into social media, emails, all the things on my to do list
- Practice French for a few minutes before I start my day (I use Duolingo) – it gets my brain exercising!
How are you currently marketing your business?
I generally use posting on IG and FB to connect with potential clients – I am a member of a variety of groups where I know my ideal clients can be found. I use this to interact and help where I can but also to get information about what kind of issues my ideal client is struggling with.
Also I usually use video to post content since there are stats that show that video gets 12x more engagement than just a static post.

What have you tried in marketing in the past that didn’t work?
Funnily… posting on FB and IG! When I decided I was ready and wanted to start paying for ads I didn’t take enough time to really plan out my copy and content. I tried to rush it a bit and you really need to know not only how to write good copy but also how to navigate the business suite and how to best get the right people looking at your ads. I’ve paid for a few ads and learned the hard way that a good ad definitely takes some planning!
What is a piece of advice you’d give someone new or struggling in business?
Such a huge question… really it depends on what the struggle is. Sometimes people can be making loads of sales but are still struggling financially because they don’t know how to manage cash flow.
Sometimes they struggle with getting enough sales or clients – this could be from lack of awareness because they haven’t let their perfect client know exactly how they can help them. Maybe they don’t know how to reach them, maybe they don’t know what to say, maybe they haven’t done their work yet to get really clear on what problem they are solving for their customer!
Ok… sorry… long answer… if someone is struggling, my best advice is to get a coach! Someone who can help you objectively look at your business, help you figure out exactly what your business is and who it is helping and then how to reach those people. I have my own coach and he has definitely helped me over the years get real clarity, hold me accountable to myself and also define what success looks like for me.
